Re-imagining the Future

Join Chris Sunderland (Real Economy, Agora, Sims Hill Shared Harvest) and the members of the Sims Hill Community Food Centre on Thursday 4th May for lunch and explore ideas about how we can think about the future in a more imaginative and progressive way. During this time of political disarray we need to remind ourselves about the direction we would like to take our lifestyles and livelihoods which will have a positive affect on those around us.
We will share a vegetarian lunch together between 12:30 and 1pm, cooked by the members of the Community Food Centre on the open fire. Chris will then facilitate a discussion which will last approximately an hour. Visitors will have a chance to find out more about the project and go on a tour of the Feed Bristol site after 2pm if they would like to stay.
Donations for the lunch would be appreciated but not an obligation. Please RSVP on facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/192801174558160/ or email laurie@realeconomy.org if you would like to attend so we know how many to cater for.

Seeds Sewn with Local School

Three reception classes from Begbrook Primary came to the Sims Hill to learn more about seeds as part of their topic on food last term.

Children explored the site, tasted (and mostly loved!) winter salad leaves, dissected seeds and got to grips with their different parts, before planting a variety of vegetable seeds to take away to grow in a new productive plot in their school grounds.

The sun shone, children were really excited and engaged and a local parent helper said, ‘It was a great trip! I can’t believe so much goes on behind the gates and we never knew before. It’s good for the children to see it and learn where their food comes from. Thank you!’.
