Peas and Flowers Planting Day 23 April!

This Saturday at Sims Hill we will be planting peas and flowers starting at 10 o’clock.

Bring a hand trowel if you have one, a big drink, and a picnic for lunch about half past twelve.

It would be good to do a bit more clearing up by the railway trucks too, if anyone fancies that.

All welcome. You don’t have to be a member of Sims Hill to come along and join in the fun.

Cheers Tim

Sims Hill comes to the Allotments Fair 16-17 April!

Along with a host of other committed community growing groups, Sims Hill will be hosting a stall 16-17 April on Merchant St. South as part of the Allotments Fair at the Bristol Garden Life Show.

But don’t expect the same old flyers and pitches you might be used to at these events. We are planning to have a lovely and lively exhibit that will immerse our audience in the plants, sights, and and soil of the Sims Hill plot!

Thanks to all of our members who have offered to help. We can still use more staffing to give people a break and to help us set up and take down each day. If you have time to help please email and we will send you more details of the day.

Potato Planting Day – Saturday 9 April

This Saturday’s workday is potato planting day! We have 3 main crop varieties to plant, that’s 75 kg of seed potatoes!

At the last workday twenty-eight of us had great fun planting 400 hedging plants (blackthorn, hazel, crab apple and dog rose) as well as planting a willow coppice.

Planting starts at 10 am. Bring a mug and picnic for lunch to finish at 1 pm.

If you can, bring a spade.
