This Saturday we will start building a compost toilet and renovating one of the railway trucks. We also need to get a few thistles dug up ready for cultivation, we have already dug five out of six patches with thistles, so this is the last patch (for now…)
We will start at 10am and then have a picnic together at about 12.30pm. So bring a big drink and a picnic.
If you can please bring a drill, hammer, or hacksaw (+eye protection) for building or a fork for thistles.
Cheers Tim and Chris Howell

There has not been much rain of late and we have no ponds or mains water yet. Once again David (our tractor man) and Betty (whose farm David runs out of) have come to our aid. Twice a week we are filling up David’s 200 gallon (1100l) tanker at Betty’s farm (on the other side of the M4) and watering in plants on the Hill. Watering is taking up about one third of our time, though to be fair there are a lot fewer weeds as a result of the lack of rain and the water retention of the soil is impressive. There is still a good lot of moisture below the surface so the plants are doing well.

This Saturday at Sims Hill we will be continuing to plant out comfrey and will also be planting and sowing flowers from 10 to 1.
Bring a hand trowel if you have one, a big drink, and a picnic for lunch about half past twelve.
All welcome. You don’t have to be a member of Sims Hill to come along and join in the fun.
Cheers James
